The "Red Lizard" is an exceptional train dating from 1910, its characteristics place it in the line age of the great trains of the same period such as the Orient-Express, the Blue Train or the North Star.
Originally, this train was reserved during the colonial era for the transport of the Bey of Tunis and his court.
After a technical overhaul and redevelopment, the Red Lizard was put back into circulation in 1984 and operated intensively, but this time on the section of the network linking Métlaoui to Redeyef (built between 1906 and 1907), a circuit crossing the Selja Gorges.
